The response to CBG’s Backpack Project has been amazing!   We collected supplies to provide 1,000 backpacks to families in need.

Two volunteer opportunities remain – you can just show up to help:

• Sunday, August 15 – 1:00pm – Sample Road campus – Prep supplies for Packing Day
• Monday, August 16 – 9:00am – Sample Road campus – Packing and Delivery to Area schools

Church by the Glades will be having Sunday evening services on July 25th, BUT they will be at The Fillmore Miami Beach (The Jackie Gleason Theater).  We will be partnering with Fellowship Church, in Dallas, TX, for their SoBe Nights event.  Join Pastor David Hughes & Pastor Ed Young for this live event benefiting Haiti.

Additional Details:

• 5:30 pm: Car & motorcycle show with 2-time Indy 500 winner  Emerson Fittipali. Emerson will be signing autographs
• 6pm: Doors open for concert seating
• 7pm: 3-time Grammy award winner Israel Houghton concert starts
• All monetary donations will be used to assist the children of Haiti receive proper nutrition, sanitation, education & life-transformation.

Plan to be a part of CBG’s effort to support families in our church and community who need backpacks and school supplies for their children this upcoming school year.  Here are some basic details:

• July 17/18: Supply list will be made available church-wide
• July 31/August 1 & August 7/8: Monetary donations and supplies collected at CBG Sawgrass and Sample Road
• August 15: Prep supplies for packing day (1:00pm until finished) – Sample Road Campus
• August 16: Pack the backpacks and deliver to schools – Sample Road Campus

On the weekend of January 16-17, 2010, the people of Church by the Glades stepped up BIG and passed on $160,000 to organizations helping the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.  Here is what Pastor David told our people that weekend:

Wait No More: Finding Families for Florida’s Waiting Kids

On January 30th, Focus on the Family and local placement agencies are cosponsoring an event at one of our local sister churches, CC FLL, to raise awareness of and recruit adoptive families for Florida’s legal orphans in foster care waiting for adoptive families.  We encourage you to go hear about God’s heart for these kids as well as the practical realities of a decision to welcome a child home.  Together, we can make a difference for the kids in Florida.

UPDATE: These agencies have recently been put in-charge of placing a number of kids from Haiti who were left orphans after the recent earthquake.  If you have considered adoption, this maybe the time to do it.

Trunk or Treat is the best non-scary candy gathering event of the year.  Kids parade from decorated car to decorated car gathering more candy in 30 minutes than you can get in any neighborhood.  Adults join the fun by decorating their car trunk instead of their front porch in a non-scary theme. We’ll triple the fun this year with Trunk or Treat after both Saturday evening services, KidStuf Productions during the services, and a movie on the lawn @ 8pm weather permitting.  Click here to volunteer to decorate your car.  Candy and cash donations accepted in the KidStuf building.

“No Other Gods” featuring Kelly Minter

“No Other Gods: Confronting Our Modern-Day Idols” is a Bible Study written by Kelly Minter. At this event, Kelly will explore the natural needs of women that can become modern-day idols, replacing God’s presence in their lives. Worship and opportunities for community will also be provided.
